New Single Enters The US Billboard Digital Songs Chart at No. 8 Grammy-winning, multiplatinum hip-hop superstar Nelly makes a powerful return to the Billboard charts this week as his new single, "Just a Dream," debuts at No. 8 on the Digital Songs chart and No. 12 on the Hot 100 chart with 135,000 copies sold. This marks Nelly's first Top 10 hit since "Grillz" topped the Hot 100 chart in early 2006. Produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, "Just a Dream" is one of two new lead singles—including the infectious club jam "Tippin' In Da Club," produced by Dutch and Juke Box—to be released from Nelly's highly anticipated sixth album, 5.0, due out on Universal Motown on November 16, 2010. Entertainment Weekly raves: "It's getting hot in here, part 2: Nelly makes a worthy follow-up to 'Hot In Herre' with his new single, 'Just a Dream.'" And the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says, "'Just a Dream' is turning into a dream for Nelly." 5.0 is the eagerly awaited follow-up to Nelly's gold-certified 2008 album, Brass Knuckles, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. The new album marks a solid return to form for the St. Louis native who recently teamed up with the Ford Motor Company to feature a tricked-out 2011 Mustang GT customized by DUB magazine on the cover of 5.0. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Nelly's explosive debut with his groundbreaking first album, Country Grammar, which sold an astonishing 250,000 copies in its first week of release, spent seven weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, and sold more than 9 million copies. With "Just a Dream" and "Tippin' In Da Club" heating up the airwaves at Top 40 and urban radio, respectively, Nelly is poised to celebrate this milestone in his extraordinary career by enjoying another banner year of success with the release of 5.0. Ranked No. 3 on Billboard's definitive list of the best-selling artists of the 2000s, Nelly has sold 30 million albums/singles in less than 10 years. Beyond his stellar artistic output, Nelly is the CEO of his own label, Derrty Ent., owner of the popular Apple Bottoms women's clothing line, co-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA expansion team, and founder of two non-profit organizations, 4Sho4Kids and Jes Us 4 Jackie. |

Jeremih's New Single "I Like" Featuring Ludacris is the Lead Track from His Second Def Jam Album, All About You |
| Date |

| Article |

Follow-Up to "Birthday Sex," RIAA Platinum #1 Smash Hit of 2009 Mega-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumental Chicago sensation Jeremih – who blew out of the Windy City in 2009 to explode into history with his RIAA platinum #1 Def Jam debut single "Birthday Sex," and his self-titled #1 debut album – returns to the game one year later with "I Like," the lead track from his eagerly anticipated second album, All About You, arriving September 28th in the US. Coinciding with his new album release this fall, Jeremih will be featured on BET's second season of the cable tv series, "Rising Icons," which will offer a glimpse into the life of an emerging artist by chronicling their journeys at home and on tour. Other guests on the series, presented by Grey Goose Vodka, include J Cole, Estelle, Elew, Laura Izibor, B.o.B, Melanie Fiona, and Jay Sean. "I Like" featuring fellow Def Jam artist Ludacris has already won radio airplay on close to 75 stations across the country. The song was co-written by Jeremih and songwriter Marcus Fench (who is currently working on Jeremih's second album), and produced by Mick Schultz. (Most recently, Jeremih and Mick Schultz co-wrote & produced "Tumblin Down," the debut single from Toronto beauty Jenna Andrews on Island Records.) Jeremih's "Birthday Sex" was one of the surprises of the summer of 2009 – it had the distinction of ousting Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" from the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart. "Birthday Sex" rose to #1 on the Mediabase Rhythmic chart, #1 on MySpace (for 3 weeks), and #6 on the Hot 100, while the video was added to MTV, MTV HITS, MTV U and MTV JAMS. Jeremih performed the song at the annual BET Awards pre-show event on June 28th, two days before the release of his debut album. To date, cumulative single sales for "Birthday Sex" and its follow-up "Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)" have topped 2.2 million copies in the US alone. Jeremih [Felton] was a musical prodigy since early childhood on Chicago's infamous Southside. He was given his first set of drums at age three, and by the time he got to Morgan Park High School, was adept at the traps, and piano. Jeremih's intelligence enabled him to skip junior year, graduate high school at age 16, and enter the University of Illinois as an engineering science major. But when he started getting involved with on-campus talent shows, music took over. He transferred to Columbia College, one of Chicago's premier art schools, and began collaborating on demos with music student Mick Schultz. Their mutual love for music led to the creation of "My Ride," Jeremih's first song to hit local radio airwaves on Power-92 (also streaming at the MySpace site). "Birthday Sex" followed in October 2008, and Jeremih was soon the talk of Chicago, a local hometown hero. He was signed to Def Jam in March 2009, and "Birthday Sex" was officially released in April. "I have no boundaries," Jeremih says. "It excites me to see what there is to come. I'm a writer, I'm a singer, I'm a producer, and I can play instruments. I feel like that's what sets me apart from all the other artists out there." |

Stereophonics, The Like, Hoobastank, and Ian Brown all headed to Seoul, Korea for the weekend July 23 - 25th to perform at the fifth-annual Pentaport Rock Festival The three-day event at Dream Park, Incheon City, is Korea's largest open-air festival and featured its largest line-up to date — with more than 60 local and international acts. Organisers say this year's event attracted its largest crowd ever, with day two luring 27,000 fans. The headlining Universal Music artists — who were all visiting Korea for the first time, except Hoobastank, who were on their third outing — enjoyed the revamped festival setting, which this year featured three stages and had been moved to a beautiful green grass field. Day One's headliner, Stereophonics, began their schedule with an interview with MTV Korea before heading to the venue for a swamped signing session. That night, the band performed a number of hits, including "Have A Nice Day" and "Maybe Tomorrow," for their 1.5-hour set. The Like also put in promotional time with television and online media at their hotel before their show. The all-female band looked adorable and both the local media and their fans supported their Korean debut. The next day, headliners Hoobastank impressed all with their friendliness and ever-bright smiles. After greeting the press, they caused a ruckus amongst fans in their packed autograph session tent. On stage, they sure rocked the festival and had the entire crowd singing "The Reason". Ian Brown, the last day's headliner, proved to be a charismatic gentleman. During his signing session, he surprised his fans by greeting them all with a kind handshake, hug, or even a kiss. His performance was the grand finale that closed the festival. Thousands fans cheered on the legend's performance, that rocked on until well after midnight. |

John Fogerty's Guitar 'Slugger' Debuts on Exhibit at Hall of Fame |

The song has become a baseball anthem. The artist is a legendary performer. Now, the guitar that has given life to John Fogerty's classic song "Centerfield" has landed in Cooperstown, New York, and is now on exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Following Sunday's Induction Ceremony at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Fogerty's bat-shaped guitar "Slugger" was put on exhibit for a limited run at the Hall of Fame through an artifact loan from Fogerty. The event capped a weekend where Fogerty performed "Centerfield" live at the start of Sunday's Induction Ceremony at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, enriching the decades-old Hall of Fame tradition of the playing "Centerfield" at the beginning of the Induction Ceremony. "Slugger" is joined in the exhibit case by three versions of original lyrics to the song written by Fogerty, a CD and a record of the original release. In tribute to his love of baseball and in response to the popularity of Centerfield Fogerty's 1985 comeback album that featured the nostalgic title track of the same name – Fogerty commissioned guitar craftsman Philip Kubicki to create a custom guitar he called "Slugger." Since then, Fogerty has regularly used the special guitar when playing "Centerfield" – and did so again at Sunday's Induction Ceremony. Fogerty wrote all the songs and played every instrument on Centerfield, which has sold more than two million copies. Celebrating the return of the 25th anniversary of the 1985 album, Centerfield - 25th Anniversary Edition was digitally remastered and recently released with rare B-side bonus tracks. Though damaged by the Nashville floods this spring, "Slugger" was renovated in time to be used by John for Sunday's performance before going on display in the Museum. The celebration of "Centerfield" was just part of an action-packed Hall of Fame Weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame – highlighted by the inductions of Andre Dawson, Doug Harvey and Whitey Herzog as the Class of 2010 on Sunday. |

It has been over half a century since true American original Jerry Lee Lewis first rocketed to the top of America's pop, country and R&B charts with "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire." While those iconoclastic performances still define the essence of rock 'n' roll for millions, The Killer himself continues to thrill audiences around the world with his unique, scorching blend of rock, blues, country and gospel. Music icon Lewis will continue this legacy with his new CD, Mean Old Man, which was produced by Jim Keltner and Steve Bing in Memphis and LA, and is being released by Verve/Universal Music on September 7th in the US (September 6th Internationally). This is Lewis's much-anticipated follow-up to his 2006 release Last Man Standing, which continues to sell consistently with sales of over 500,000 worldwide. "With a lifetime of triumph and tragedy to draw from, Jerry Lee Lewis sings and plays with the seasoned wisdom of a man who has seen it all and the savvy confidence of a performer who knows that music—and the emotional truths it carries—is the thing that matters most," commented Bruce Resnikoff, President & CEO Verve/Universal Music Enterprises. "Verve/UMe is proud to be releasing Jerry Lee Lewis' first new country-inspired CD in decades." In addition to Lewis' many rock hits, he also paid homage to his deep country roots throughout his career. GRAMMY®, Lifetime Achievement winner and Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, Lewis has had over 30 Top 10 country hits including "Another Time, Another Place," "To Make Love Sweeter For You," "There Must Be More To Love Than This," "Think About It Darlin'," "What's Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made a Loser Out of Me)," "She Still Comes Around (To Love What's Left of Me)," "Once More With Feeling," "Would You Take Another Chance on Me" and "Me & Bobby McGee," among others. Mean Old Man continues that spirit with a number of country influences as well as the compelling force of his signature rock, blues and gospel style. |

Nashville, TN – July 20, 2010 – Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated third studio album will be released worldwide on October 25th, Taylor herself announced this afternoon during a web chat with her fans.
Entitled SPEAK NOW, the album will be released on Big Machine Records and contains 14 tracks, all written solely by Taylor. Taylor co-produced the project with Nathan Chapman, and the first single from the new record, “Mine,” will be released on August 16th.
“Saying the right thing at the right moment is so crucial that most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I've begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything,” Taylor says of the very personal collection that is Speak Now. “These songs are made up of words I didn't say when the moment was right in front of me. These songs are open letters. Each is written with a specific person in mind, telling them what I meant to tell them in person.”
Starting on August 20th, Speak Now will be available for special pre-sale on the site www.SpeakNow13.com.
Four-time GRAMMY award winner Taylor Swift is the top-selling digital artist in music history, has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and had the #1 best-selling album in any genre of music in both 2009 and 2008. This year, at the age of 20, she became the youngest artist in history, and the first female solo country artist ever, to win the music industry’s highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. Also at the 2010 GRAMMYs, she took home the awards for Country Album of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Female Vocal Performance.
In 2009, she was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards and also became the youngest artist in the 43-year history of the Country Music Association, and the seventh female act ever, to be awarded country music’s top prize when she took home the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year.
Taylor’s sophomore release, Fearless, reached double-platinum in just four weeks and in addition to the Album of the Year GRAMMY, was voted 2009’s Album of the Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. Fearless also won the 2009 American Music Award for Favorite Country Album, and was 2008’s biggest debut for any female artist, and the fourth highest debut of the year, over all. Now 6X-platinum, Fearless has spent more weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard’s Top 200 all-genre CD sales chart than any other album this decade. Taylor, whose career record sales now top 13 million, currently holds the Billboard all-genre records for most first-week downloads by a female artist, for the longest charting album of this century and for most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year, as well as the Billboard record for the largest overall airplay audience for a country-based act. Taylor headlined her first arena tour last year, the TAYLOR SWIFT FEARLESS 2009 TOUR. Every show on the tour sold out within minutes, including Madison Square Garden in one minute, and Los Angeles’ STAPLES center in just two minutes. Taylor’s 40-date FEARLESS 2010 North American tour sold out arenas and stadiums in 32 cities in 26 states and provinces in the US and Canada.
At the age of 17, Taylor became the youngest person ever to single-handedly write and sing a number-one country single entirely on her own, and Taylor is the first female solo artist in country music history to write or co-write every song on a platinum-selling debut CD. When Taylor was just 14, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, and in 2006 released her self-titled debut CD on Big Machine Records. Taylor Swift has surpassed quadruple-platinum status and spent more than 20 weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard's Country CD Sales Chart. Taylor is consistently ranked Country's #1 artist on MySpace, and was named Country Music's Hottest Female Artist by AOL Music and Best New Artist by the editors of iTunes. Taylor has more than 7.4 million Facebook friends, more than 3.6 million followers on her Twitter account, and has had more than 273.8 million music plays on her MySpace page.
In 2009 Taylor won AMA Awards for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist (Country), Favorite Female Artist (Pop/Rock), Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, and Favorite Album (Country). She also took home CMA Awards for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Video of the Year and International Artist Achievement. The same year, Taylor was awarded the Academy of Country Music’s Crystal Milestone Award, given for Outstanding Achievement in Country Music. Taylor was the 2nd artist in history to receive this prestigious award -- Garth Brooks received the award in 2007. She is also the first Country artist to win an MTV VMA Award, taking home the 2009 Moonman for Best Female Video. In 2009 Taylor won CMT Music Awards for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year, awards she was also honored with in 2008. In addition, she won 2009 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Female Artist and Choice Music Album – Female Artist. Taylor was named 2008’s Favorite Female Country Artist at the American Music Awards, and Top New Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music. She was named Choice Breakout Artist at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, and was honored as the 2008 Superstar of Tomorrow at the 10th Annual Young Hollywood Awards, making her the first musician to ever receive this prestigious award. She was named Songwriter / Artist of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters Association International in both 2009 and 2007, and she won the 2007 CMA Horizon Award, as well as receiving a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
In 2009, NBC dedicated an entire hour to the primetime special “Dateline: On Tour With Taylor Swift.” Taylor’s other television appearances include a guest-starring role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and in 2009 she became only the twelfth person in 35 years to both host and perform on Saturday Night Live. Taylor’s numerous television guest appearances include The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Jay Leno Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, the Today Show, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, The View, and Live with Regis & Kelly. Taylor made her feature film acting debut in 2010, as part of the ensemble cast of the Garry Marshall film Valentine’s Day.

Nicki Minaj Scores No. 1 Hit On Billboard's Rap Songs Chart With "Your Love" |

The First Lady of Young Money Entertainment is The First Female Hip-Hop Artist to Top Billboard's Rap Songs Chart Since 2003
Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown breakout superstar Nicki Minaj has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart with "Your Love," the sizzling new summer jam from her hotly anticipated forthcoming solo debut album, due out in the winter of 2010. The infectious love song jumps to No. 1 from No. 4 and boasts a catchy sing-along melody that's buttressed by a sample of Annie Lennox's classic 1995 hit "No More 'I Love You's.'"
Nicki Minaj is the first female hip-hop artist to top Billboard's Rap Songs chart since 2003. This extraordinary achievement comes just one week after Nicki Minaj delivered no less than three outstanding performances and picked up two noteworthy solo wins for Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the 2010 BET Awards, where her efforts as a member of the supergroup Young Money also earned the collective the top prize for Best Group. Those wins mark a significant victory not just for Nicki Minaj, but for all women in hip-hop who have seen their voices become increasingly silenced at major award shows ever since a growing lack of submissions by female MCs forced the Recording Academy to nix its Grammy category for Best Female Rap Solo Performance in 2005, followed by the elimination of the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist category at the BET Hip-Hop Awards in 2008.
Indeed, Nicki Minaj is a powerful force of nature who is leading the charge of a galvanizing new generation of female rappers — including Esther Dean, Rasheeda, and Trina — and it's possible she may be the lightning rod needed to persuade the upcoming 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards and the 2011 Grammys to reinstate their female rapper categories.
As hip-hop's go-to golden girl with the Midas touch, Nicki Minaj is one of the most in-demand guest artists in the game and she's proven her capacity for hit-making with featured appearances alongside Lil Wayne ("Knockout"), Christina Aguilera ("Woo Hoo"), Usher ("Little Freak"), Robin Thicke ("Shakin' It 4 Daddy"), Ludacris ("My Chick Bad"), Mariah Carey ("Up Out My Face"), and of course Young Money ("Bedrock"). As a testament to her remarkably broad mass appeal, she remains visible on the pages of a richly diverse multitude of publications — including People, Interview, Vibe, Details, Spin, XXL, The Fader, and Black Men, among others — while she continues working on her eagerly anticipated upcoming solo debut album, to be released in the winter of 2010. |

Eminem Takes Over US Charts with Recovery, First Week Sales of 741,000, The Biggest Debut of Any Release Since 2008! |

Eminem, the Nielsen SoundScan Artist of the Decade for 2000-2009, is already kicking off the new decade with more of the same. His latest album, Recovery (Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records), makes its debut atop the US charts this week with sales of 741,000 copies; easily outpacing any other release for this year, and setting a bar that no other album has reached for first week sales in almost two years.
The album's first single, "I'm Not Afraid," debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May. The song was only the 16th in the 52-year history of the Hot 100 to debut at the top spot, and the first rap song to do so in 13 years. The second single from the album, "Love The Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna), is already showing tremendous growth at radio, and debuts at #1 on the Singles chart this week, with sales of 337,000.
"It's been 12 years since Eminem signed to Aftermath and Interscope," remarked Jimmy Iovine, Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M Records. "This is a real watershed moment in his career. In my opinion, with this album Eminem's impact on popular culture, and as a lyricist and writer, puts him on course to be mentioned in the same sentence as Dylan, Springsteen, and Bono."
Recovery is being hailed as a tour de force for the rapper, receiving a four-star review in the current issue of Rolling Stone, and being described as "his fiercest and most focused work in a long time…a strong return to the form that made him a star in the first place." (USA Today, 6/21/10)
Eminem performed "Not Afraid" on the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater for an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman that aired Friday night, as well as at Sunday night's "2010 BET Awards." He heads to Europe next week for headlining slots at Switzerland's Freuenfeld festival (July 9), T In The Park in Scotland (July 10), and wraps up in Ireland at Oxegen (July 11). Eminem and Jay-Z also will perform co-headlining dates at Comerica Park in Detroit (September 2 and 3) and New York's Yankee Stadium (September 13 and 14). Tickets for the four shows went on sale late last week and quickly sold out.

The Roots' New Album, How I Got Over, Arrives in the Top 10 with #6 US Soundscan Debut! |

Grammy Award-winning Def Jam hip-hop pioneers the Roots are back in the spotlight as How I Got Over (released June 22nd in the US and June 28th Internationally) arrives at #6 on soundscan chart. The album received a giant kick-start on Friday night, June 18th when the Roots performed its first single, "Dear God 2.0" on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where they have served as "the supremely flexible house band" (New York Times) since March 2009.
"Dear God 2.0" reworks Monsters Of Folk's "Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.)" and the Roots' recording features MOF members Yim Yames (My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and M. Ward. For the Late Night performance, the Roots were joined by Yim Yames and a 12-piece string section. Check out the performance at NBC.com: http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/blogs/2010/06/the-roots-dear-god-20.
How I Got Over takes its name from "How I Got Over," the Clara Ward gospel classic (popularized by Mahalia Jackson), which the Roots have also performed on Late Night. The new album also includes two appearances from Grammy-winning soul man John Legend: "Doin' It Again" a re-working of his track "Again," and "The Fire," an original song written for the Roots' 2010 Olympic concert performance. John Legend has developed strong musical bonds with the Roots, who produced his entire upcoming release Wake Up. The album shares the socially conscious themes of How I Got Over and is comprised of late-'60s/early-'70s cover versions.
The songs on How I Got Over have been described by the group as "depicting the everyman's search for hope in this dispiriting post-hope zeitgeist". Other guests on the album include Joanna Newsom on "Right On" (which re-works her 2004 "The Book Of Right On"), Phonte Coleman (Little Brother, the Foreign Exchange), Blu (Blu & Exile), Peedi Peedi , Mercedes Martinez (Jazzyfatnastees), Icelandic alt-pop singer Patty Crash, newcomer Sugar Tongue Slim, as well as long time Roots' Crew members Dice Raw, Truck North and P.O.R.N.
More than two decades after '?uestlove' and 'Black Thought' first met under nefarious circumstances in the principal's office of Philadelphia's High School For the Creative and Performing Arts – and over 15 years since the Roots recorded their indie debut album in 1993, during a year-long European sojourn – the group and its intelligent school of jazz-inflected hip-hop are more relevant than ever.
How I Got Over, the Roots' 9th studio album (and third for Def Jam Recordings), is the follow-up to Rising Down (April 2008), praised by Rolling Stone more than a month before its release, for spewing "rhymes from the perspective of the poor and the dispossessed, from North Philly to Liberia." Rising Down's guests list included Common on "The Show" (with Dice Raw); original Roots rapper Malik B. on "Lost Desire" (with Brooklyn's Talib Kweli) and "I Can't Help It"; and fellow Def Jam R&B singer Chrisette Michele and Washington D.C. rapper Wale on the lighthearted closing track, "Rising Up." Philadelphia hip-hop voices Dice Raw, Truck North, P.OR.N., and Peedi Peedi appear throughout, as well as Mercedes Martinez.
The Roots' previous Def Jam album was their label debut, Game Theory (August 2006) which was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Rap Album. Its first single, "Don't Feel Right" was nominated the same year for Best Rap Performance By a Duo/Group. The Roots won their first Grammy Award, Best Rap Performance By a Duo/Group, for 1999's "You Got Me" (featuring Erykah Badu and Eve) from the album Things Fall Apart.
Today's Roots are vocalist 'Black Thought' and drummer '?uestlove,' long-time keyboardist Kamal Gray (a member since 1996's Illadelph Halflife), Brooklyn-based guitarist Kirk 'Captain Kirk' Douglas and percussionist Frank Knuckles (both members since 2003-2004's The Tipping Point sessions), Damon 'Tuba Gooding Jr.' Bryson (who joined the lineup after touring with the band in 2007), and newest member Owen Biddle on bass (a producer on the 2006 Game Theory sessions).

Eminem and Jay-Z to Headline New York's Yankee Stadium and Detroit's Comerica Park in September |

Two superstars, two stadiums, two concerts, two unforgettable events. In a rare co-headlining concert pairing, Jay-Z, who has scored more #1 albums than any solo artist in history, and Eminem, the biggest selling artist of the 2000s, will share a stage with each headlining in his own hometown--Eminem at Detroit's Comerica Park and Jay-Z at New York's Yankee Stadium.
The Detroit show is set for Thursday, September 2 and the New York performance is scheduled for Monday, September 13. Both shows will be produced by Live Nation. Jay-Z and Eminem made an appearance together earlier tonight at Comerica Park, where the Tigers hosted the Yankees, to announce the shows.
"This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we're both really going to bring it to our home towns" said Eminem. "The fans are going to love this--and so am I. It's gonna be historic."
Full Eminem concerts have been few in recent years. His performance last October at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans was his first full concert since summer 2005. His newest album, Recovery (Aftermath/Interscope), will be released June 22.
Said Jay-Z: "These shows are like a dream come true. I've always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board." Jay-Z is currently touring stadiums, arenas and festivals around the world in support of his latest #1 album, 2009's Blueprint 3 (Roc Nation).
Since 1996, 10-time Grammy award winner, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter has dominated the rap industry and set trends for a generation. Now in 2010, he personifies the "American Dream." Founder and chairman of Rocawear, he is also co-owner of the NJ Nets, 40/40 sportsclubs, Translation Advertising and Carol's Daughter skin line, as well involved in a partnership with Iconix Brand Group.
After three successful years as President and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, where he fostered the careers of international stars Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Kanye West, Jay-Z entered into a partnership with Live Nation to form Roc Nation.
Through Roc Nation, Jay-Z released The Blueprint 3, his 11th #1 album, putting him ahead of Elvis for most #1 albums by any solo artist. He continues his philanthropic work through his Water For Life initiative and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
Eminem has sold more than 80,000,000 albums worldwide and won 11 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. After 1999's quintuple platinum The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002) became two of the Top 5 best selling albums of the 2000s, with approximately 10,000,000 copies of each sold in the U.S. alone.
2004's Grammy-nominated Encore reached #1 and was certified quadruple platinum. The #1, double platinum, 2005 greatest hits collection Curtain Call: The Hits and #2, platinum, 2006 various artists compilation Eminem Presents: The Re-Up followed. 2009's Relapse, the #1-charting winner of the Best Rap Album Grammy was, at nearly double platinum, the best selling rap album of the year. "Not Afraid," the first single off his upcoming Recovery album, was released two weeks ago and soared to #1 on the iTunes chart, and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. |

Enrique Iglesias Confirms New Album Title: Euphoria |

First Single 'I Like It' Taking Over Top 40 Airwaves Across the Nation!
Universal Republic Records and Enrique Iglesias have confirmed his eagerly anticipated new album will be titled Euphoria– the perfect name for a collection of songs all about setting your problems aside and having some fun – it boasts guest appearances from artists such as Akon, Nicole Scherzinger, Pitbull, Puerto Rican Reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel and the legendary Lionel Richie.
His most diverse, eclectic collection to date, Euphoria is the first Enrique album to feature songs sung in both Spanish and English, and – says Enrique – "is like nothing I've ever done before. It taps into so many different styles of music - it's been really exciting for me to experiment and explore new territory".
'I Like It', the first international single from Euphoria, debut at #1 on iTunes Latin chart. Produced by Red One, it features a vocal cameo from Lionel Richie, reprising the chorus of his timeless hit 'All Night Long'. The track is an up beat, floor- filler that features a collaboration with #1 selling rapper Pitbull ('I Know You Want Me'). 'I Like It' is also the first single off of the highly anticipated soundtrack to MTV's The Jersey Shore in stores July 20th.
Other tracks on Euphoria include Enrique's current Spanish-language smash "Cuando Me Enamoro," featuring Latin superstar Juan Luis Guerra, which crash landed in top 10s across Latin America and Spain on its release last week.
Born in Madrid, raised in Miami, not only is Enrique an international superstar in his own right, but he has become a one-man ambassador of global culture with his distinctive fusion of pop beats, r&b hooks, Latin rhythms and rock bombast.
For over a decade Enrique Iglesias' Latin-flavoured pop has carved its way into the hearts of music fans across the globe, selling over 55 million albums in both English and Spanish.
Enrique burst on to the music scene in 1995 winning a Grammy for his first ever Spanish release (Enrique Iglesias) and in 1999 his eponymous English language debut went on to sell six million albums, go double-platinum in the US, and achieve gold or platinum status in 32 countries. Since then he has had a string of successful albums, from Escape (2001), 7 (2003) and Insomniac (2007) to his Greatest Hits album (2008), while his sold-out world tours have established him as a captivating live performer.
In the US he is one of the biggest-selling Spanish artists of all time, with over 12 million albums sold and 19 #1 Billboard Latin hits across the Americas. Meanwhile, in the UK Enrique has sold 2.2 million albums and 1.6 million singles, the biggest of which – the inimitable "Hero" – spent four weeks at #1 and is now a staple of teary X Factor scenes. Enrique has had 12 top 20 singles, and six Top 10 singles in the UK, including "Bailamos," "Could I Have This Kiss Forever," "Escape," "Not In Love (ft Kelis)," and "Do You Know."
Titled Euphoria because it's an album full of tunes that should help you forget your problems and have some fun. |
